Perez, Douglas W. : Plattsburgh State University, New York
Douglas Perez, a former police officer and corrections officer, has a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University
of California at Berkeley (1978). He is the author of several books on policing and the investigator on numerous
research projects in the field over the course of the past 25 years. Dr. Perez�s research and scholarly work have
focused upon police misconduct and accountability, urban gangs, community policing, and the police subculture.
He is an Associate Professor at Plattsburgh State University in upstate New York, and lives in Vermont with his
wife Betsy and their two daughters Elizabeth and Annie.
Moore, J. Alan : Champlain College of Vermont
Dr. Alan Moore studied in California and Munich before receiving his Ph.D. in Philosophy from Tulane University
in New Orleans. He is on the faculty of Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont, and also teaches in Tel-Aviv,
Israel. In addition to ethics, Moore's writing interest includes the Holocaust. He is currently working on a collection
of family stories.
Summary
Police Ethics: A Matter of Character was written to emphasize the importance of police ethics. The authors seek
to treat police officers as the intelligent and knowledgeable people that they are, instead of discussing what
to do and what not to do.
